Rick Jarrett started his love for musical theatre singing alongside Patti Austin in a high school production of Bye Bye Birdie. He returned to that love many years later in his cabaret show, Curtains Up!!! An Evening of Broadway & Show Tunes. Rick performed this show live in many venues along the West Coast from California to Washington. In Curtains Up!!! Rick becomes the characters and takes you to the stage as he performs favorite songs from Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Carousel, Ain't Misbehavin' and more!
Accompanying Rick on the piano is his Musical Director, composer/arranger Bruce Coyle whose career has spanned the many worlds of musical performance. Bruce has performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center's State Theatre in New York City, The Shauspielhaus in Vienna, The Shauspielhaus in Berlin and numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. He won critics awards for his musical direction of Side By Side By Sondheim and Berlin To Broadway. Mr. Coyle has conducted concerts and musical productions starring Helen Reddy, Robert Guillame, Cathy Rigby, and too many more to mention. As the pianist for CURTAINS UP!!!, Mr. Coyle states, "I really enjoy working with Rick Jarrett. He is a multi-talented performer who is ripe for major discovery in this industry. I look forward to working with him on Broadway." Accompanying Rick on the bass is Adrian Rosen, a former veteran of Broadway and a highly respected jazz bassist.
Rick Jarrett is an accomplished actor and singer. As an adult, he was able to sing once again with Grammy Award winner Patti Austin, and also Tony Award winner Lilias White, in Like Jazz at The Mark Taper Forum; it was a Cy Coleman, Alan & Marilyn Bergman production. He has performed in Disney's opening of Mulan at the Hollywood Bowl and also at the opening of the Hunchback of Notre Dame at the Superdome in New Orleans. He appeared as an actor on Days of Our Lives for over three years. His theatrical performances include King Theseus in a regional production of A Midsummer Nights Dream and the Cowardly Lion in a San Francisco Bay Area Production of The Wizard of Oz. He also performed around the country with the famous Platters (2nd generation) R&B singing group. Currently, The Rick Jarrett Jazz Group regularly performs in numerous jazz and dinner clubs throughout Southern California as well as many weddings and private parties. Rick Jarrett and Hot Sauce, his Country band, perform in venues throughout Southern California and also for private parties.
